Case study Lameri

Lameri S.p.a.

Lameri S.p.A was founded in 1968 and has established itself as an expert in the processing and trade of cereals thanks to a consolidated family tradition who has always combined past and innovation in the agri-food sector.

The Lameri group currently has six manufacturing plants, three of which are dedicated to BREAKFAST CEREALS and SEMI-FINISHED for INDUSTRY. The storage apacity of 22,000 tons of raw material and the availability of warehouses 11,000 square meters of finished product allow an effective service of loading and unloading unique in the territory.

Request

Reduce recurring costs

Scalable and redundant network

Easy to manage and monitor

Proposal

In this specific case, it was decided to install two Peplink Balance 380 in high reliability in the main building, and one Peplink Balance 305 in each peripheral structure, connected via VPN to the Balance 380 in the main office.

Benefits

Saving on operating costs

Performance: increasing the user experience

Redundancy of connectivity: reduce the probability of faults

Easy manage and monitoring

Costumer Needs and Goals

Lameri Group had an MPLS network with weak performances, high costs and without a backup. The costumer’s request was to review the infrastructure in order to reduce recurring costs and create a scalable and redundant network that could be easy to manage and monitor.

Peplink Proposal

On the basis of the needs set out above, Know IT proposed a solution that combines reliability, resilience and wide bandwidth availability. This solution is based on innovative technology SpeedFusion™ which allows to aggregate the bandwidth of available connections by creating VPN between Peplink endpoints dislocated in the costumer’s infrastructure.
In this specific case, it was decided to install two Peplink Balance 380 in high reliability in the main building, and one Peplink Balance 305 in each peripheral structure, connected via VPN to the Balance 380 in the main office.
So, thanks to SpeedFusion™ technology, all sites are connected reliably and securely, guaranteeing an “always-on” connectivity not only to the head office, but also between peripheral plants.

Another important challenge was to ensure connectivity even where land lines are absent or highly at fault risk. To deal with the problem, it was decided to use Peplink MAX Router family and in particular the MAX HD2 which allowed to overcome any limitation of the land lines using the 4G LTE technology.

Benefici Ottenuti

With the Peplink SD-WAN solution, Lameri achieved all the set objectives:

Costs: following the implementation of Peplink network, Lameri confirmed a saving on operating costs

Performance: thanks to the new solution, the bandwidth has been improved in all locations, increasing both the user experience in the interactive activities and the speed of batch processes

Redundancy of connectivity: Peplink solution involves the use of multiple lines. In the most important sites, both lines are active in order to reduce the probability of faults, while the less strategic ones are developed on a classic 4G line backup.

Easy manage and monitoring: Incontrol2 allows Lameri not only to configure and manage the Peplink devices remotely, but also to check in real time the state of health of lines and devices themselves.

“La soluzione Peplink-Know IT funziona perfettamente. Abbiamo ridotto le spese, la gestione della rete è facilmente gestibili e monitorabile.”
